Enjoy the freedom of a bicycle as you explore the hidden treasures of the beautiful island of São Miguel in the Azores with is specular vistas, flower-fenced pastures, fairy tale lakes and romantic little towns.

Azores Bike Tours on Sao Miguel Island

 

DAY 1 - Transfer to Solar do Conde hotel in Capelas at the west part of the island of São Miguel, about 12 km from airport.

DAY 2 - Solar do Conde - 09h30 - Bicycle delivery to the hotel. Free day or 31 km tour on flat road around the pleasant little villages of the north coast line. Return to Capelas for overnight.

DAY 3 - Solar do Conde - Tour to Sete Cidades.53 km. one of the most famous sites of all of the Azores, overlooking a deep valley in the crater of a former volcano with its charming lakes. This route includes a stop at the Vista do Rei viewpoint from which you can enjoy a spectacular view over the twin lakes, one blue in color and the other green. Return to Capelas.

DAY 4 - Solar do Conde/Furnas - 49 km distance. Cycling through the northern coast towards the east, first you will bike on a flat area toward the pleasant town of Ribeira Grande, then followed by a steep hill climbing 5 km, and at the end downwards until Furnas in the center of the island in the former active volcanoes region famous for its geysers and hot springs and mud pools. Accommodation at Hotel Terra Nostra. Possibility to visit the fantastic botanical garden with its misty fern forests, palm trees and swan lakes. Luggage transportation between hotels is prearranged.

DAY 5 - Furnas - About 25 km Tour on easy ride stretch, visit to Furnas lake and Ribeira Quente, a typical fishing village, 8 km from Furnas where ocean swimming is possible or bike around to Furnas lake in spectacular surroundings. Overnight at the Terra Nostra hotel at the small town of Furnas.
 
DAY 6- Furnas - Free day to discover the scenery and sites around the town of Furnas famous for its hot sulfur steams and enchanting palm garden fed by hot thermal waters. You can also visit an other coastal town Povoação, 28 km. return This tour has many uphill and downhill stretches.

DAY 7 - Furnas- Vila Franca do Campo
The distance to cover today is 20 km along the south coast, starting uphill for 3 km only, the remaining is easy ride downwards and even flat roads. While you bike your luggage is transferred to your hotel at Vila Franca do Campo.

DAY 8 - Transfer to the airport based on your flight departure time. End of the tour.

  • bike rental supplements such as helmets, special pedals, gps, rear carrier or side transport bag are paid locally

  • A guarantee deposit with credit card for the bike rental is compulsory and made locally with the bike rental company and returned at the end of the rental: C7 (Trekking bike): 600.00€
