Tour these beautiful emerald islands at the middle of the Atlantic with their lush green landscapes punctuated by colorful flowers and volcanic lakes. With their vibrant city lives, churches, palaces of art, historical treasures and the contrasting tranquility of the countryside of gorgeous vistas, hot springs and volcanoes, this island hopping tour is the perfect Azores holiday.

Day 1: SÃO MIGUEL
Arrival, meet and assist and transfer from the airport to Hotel Vila Nova or similar to rest for the day.

Day 2: SÃO MIGUEL
Morning departure on a half day tour to Sete Cidades lakes by the mountain road, where you get a very nice view of the flat part of the island. Stop at "Vista do Rei" belvedere and admire the fantastic vistas with the lakes below. Visit to a pineapple plantation on the way back. Free afternoon.

Day 3: SÃO MIGUEL
Departure from Ponta Delgada for a full day tour to Furnas by the south road. Stop at the Village of Vila Franca do Campo. Arrival in Furnas Valley passing by the lake. Visit to the fantastic botanical garden and warm springs, lush ferns and palms. Take a dip if you wish in the natural hot water swimming pool fed by volcanic hot springs. Lunch of tradional cozido included. Return to Ponta Delgada via the north coast visiting a tea plantation and the Santa Iria vantage point.

Day 4:
SÃO MIGUEL - Free day to discover Ponta Delgada, a charming city with its centuries old buildings and elegant promenade.

Day 5: SÃO MIGUEL - TERCEIRA
Transfer to the airport, flight to Terceira Island. Transfer to
Azoris Angra Garden Hotel in Angra de Heroismo, the main city on the island with the old section a designated UNESCO World Heritage site. Angra had an important role during the Age of Portuguese discoveries in the 15th and 16th centuries as a pit stop of ships heading to the New World across the high seas. Accommodation. Free time to explore on your own.

Day 6: TERCEIRA
Full day tour taking in the best of Terceira Isaland. You will also visit other places off the beaten track with amazing landscapes, the center of the island, Biscoitos, Vineyards, natural swimming pools, Raminho, Serreta, Algar do Carvão and Serra do Cume viewpoint. Discover the history and culture of Terceira, connect with nature and enjoy a traditional lunch at a small local restaurant (typical Alcatra lunch). This is a slow pace full day tour and a very special experience. Return to the hotel.


Day 7: TERCEIRA  - FAIAL - Transfer to the airport, flight to Faial island. Transfer to Hotel Azoris Faial Garden Resort or similar.
Free time on the island famous for its harbor, medieval town center and as a popular international sailing hub.
 

Day 8: FAIAL - PICO - FAIAL
Transfer to the harbor. A 30 minute boat crossing to Pico, the smallest and youngest island of the Azores with a former active volcano. The last eruption dates to only 1963. Pico Island boasts the highest mountain in all of Portugal and represents highest elevation in the Mid Atlantic. It is well known for its fertile volcanic soil and extensive vineyards as well as its former whaling industry.

Full Day Pico tour. Once you arrive at Pico harbor you embark on a tour to the town of Madalena through the north coast in direction of Cachorro and Lajido. Continue to S. Roque to visit the Whale Factory and the natural swimming pools, then by the mountain road towards the lake of Capitão, at 900m. Stop at Lajes to visit the Whalers Museum. Lunch included. Early afternoon continue along the south coast with a short stop at Mistérios de São João volcanic lava beds, then continue to the town of São Mateus to visit the church. Continue in direction of Criação Velha where Pico's protected vineyards are part of UNESCO World Patrimony sites. Return to the harbour of Madalena. Boat trip to Faial island. Transfer to the hotel.  overnight in Horta. 

Day 9: FAIAL
Departure from Horta on a full day tour of Faial. It begins by heading to the village of Flamengos to visit the Botanical Garden. Next, the tour heads up to the Natural Reserve of the Caldeira of Faial, surrounded by the blue hydranges. The we continue towards Ribeira das Cabras viewpoint, along Serra of Feteira. We will then stop for lunch.
After lunch we will decend to the Fajã in Praia do Norte. Here we will visit the Capelinhos Volcano Interpretation Centre. The Volcano erupted from 1957-1958. On the way back to Horta we make a quick stop at Varadouro to admire the amazing Morro of Castelo Branco. We will end the day in Monte da Guia and admire one of the best views of the city and the Bay of Porto Pim.

Day 10: FAIAL
Free day at leisure. Discover the lovely old town on your own with its lovely harbor, a pit stop for adventurers of Transatlantic journeys. Walk around the charming town with its many 17th century buildings.

Day 11: FAIAL. After breakfast transfer to the airport.

  • Full day tour Terceira with english speaking driver/guide. Lunch of "alcatra". If the tour is on Sunday it will be a different meal.

  • Entrance fee at the volcanic cave Algar do Carvão

  • Boat tickets HOR/PIX/HOR
