Start in the morning with a visit to the Sanctuary and the Basilica where
Our Lady of Fátima appeared in 1917 to the Three Little Shepherds, this
magnificent sanctuary was built to honour this miracle, where there are the
tombstones of shepherds - and the Chapel of Apparitions, heart of the
shrine, which marks the exact spot where the Virgin Mary appeared.
Complement with a visit to Aljustrel to the houses where the three little
Shepherds, Jacinta, Francisco and Lucia were born. Before you start your
journey driving to Northen Portugal to the charming hilltop city of Viseu,
recommend to visit the near little town of Tomar, the development of the
city is closely linked to the Order of the Templars, which received these
lands in 1159 as reward for the assistance they gave Dom Afonso Hernriques
(first king of Portugal) in the Christian re-conquest of the territory. The
city is dominated by a 12th Century castle, which is a must see, the castle
includes the remarkable Convento de Cristo, World Heritage by the UNESCO,
symbolize the old heritage that the Templar Knights and their successors,
the Order of Christ.

important painting collections.
Drive across Serra do Marão entering in the Port wine region direction to
Portugal's Northwest corner, the most beautiful province in Portugal, Alto
Minho, to overnight the following 2 nights in the charming city of Viana do
Castelo, situated at the mouth of the Lima river, between the ocean and the
mountains.
Travelling through the vineyards and the breathtaking landscapes of the
Douro Valley and visit on the way the charming Mesão Frio, although small is
worth visiting and Peso da Régua, the peaceful town overlooking the valley
of the river Douro and Amarante with its picturesque bridge and the
